My parents have always made jokes about mormons and their church. I don't think they hold anything against them, they just like to make jokes. I have recently visited at a LDS church in this community. I like it there and I like the people. I have thought about "converting" from baptist to mormon. How do I tell my parents?

I am born Jewish and finally became a baptist when I asked Jesus into my heart to forgive my sins and be my best friend, and then I went on to Assembly of God, which i think is deeper too. the Mormons are 98% the same but the difference is true salvation, Jesus said in the last chapter of the bible if you add to my words you will have plagues, and closed the bible forever. In the added book the mormons say against the bible that Jesus was created and also the brother of lucifer/satan. They teach salvation by a warm feeling to join their church. Jesus says satan can come as a creature of light.

I would truely come to know Jesus personally and then check out the differences between what Jesus teaches in the joy of salvation, and what they teach, and I have been to mormon church and was kicked out for telling how I let Jesus into my heart, at their Sunday School when they asked for testimonies on faith-to the others it was faith to get a car or other things-i told of faith Romans 10:17 that comes from hearing the word of God and Salvation with Jesus as my best friend.

peace and best to you sweet lady, David the sweet pea

Why should it be so hard to talk to your parents? Well Sweetie! Just wait till they crack another joke about mormons and their church and then tell them you wish they would stop doing that because you recently visited at a LDS church. You liked it and the people. In fact you were planning on converting....give them all the reasons that convinced you that they are the better religion etc!!!

Talk to your parents and your baptist pastor. Explain how you are feeling. Read up about the differences in the beliefs and make sure you can really agree with what the mormon faith believes. Good luck and God Bless.

There is no easy way to tell your parents that you've explored you spirituality and have decided that you believe something different than they do. I had to do that a few years ago. You just have to lay your cards on the table, give them the reasons behind your decision, and make sure they know you're sincere. My mom cried for a few days, but she's slowly come to accept my decision, even though she doesn't agree with it. Good luck.

just ignore the jokes or ask them not to put down the religion cause you know several mormons & they're really nice people. (I was raised mormon & yes they are nice people-I'm not "active" in the church, (I drink & smoke)-but I'm not against it.)

Just tell them that you're interested in becoming a Mormon, that will start everything.

How old are you? Are you old enough, legally to make your own decissions? like 18, If so and you truely belive this, then sounds to me like you have already made a decission, just need to be honest with your family and tell them.

Then invite them to go with you just one time!

I agree with first answerer and any subsequent answerers who say "just tell them."

In the words of Dr. Seuss:
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
