I strongly urge you to have a blood glucose level done. What you're describing (overweight, excessive urination) is an extremely strong indicator of diabetes.

Please take him to the vet. He is getting old and just like people, bodies change. Not always for the better. The vet will help you -- not yell at you. Take your dog to the vet, ask for help, and let them help you and the dog. Here are some suggestions to think about. Talk these over with your vet so they can help you determine the best cause of action. 1. Give him more potty breaks. Take him out once an hour if you have to. 2. Pad training may work for you as well. If you do this make sure you get a pad and a tray, or even the fake grass stuff with a pad underneath. Get another dogs pee on a towel and put it on the pad. Since your dog is male he will probably mark over it. 3. Crating the dog while you are not home or asleep will prevent messes -- as long as he can control his bladder. Dogs typically don't mess where they sleep. If you don't feel comfortable putting him in a crate, set up some space in the house where you can contain him and provide a place to go like a potty pad. This will require you to clean up at least the potty pad. 4. Install a dog door so he can go outside. 5. Do some internet research or buy a book on dog training, or even take him to a dog class. It is well worth the money, trust me. But please, take him to the vet. It may get worse otherwise.

Mary D is right it could be a sign of diabetes and you should have your sugar level checked out, to be on the safe side. However, there are several factors that can cause this, not just diabetes. I would suggest you making appointment with your doctor to get to the root of the excessive peeing problem.

You could have something serious going on in your body like an infection, your sugar level is out of wack, weak bladder muscle. Go to the doctor & get a complete check up done.

Could be a multitude of conditions I can't even name, but an obvious thing would be to cut down on the drinking if you are drinking a lot of water, because I know when I drink a lot of water I end up going every 10 minutes.

you are diabetic. you have all the signs...polyuria (frequent urination), polyphagia (frequent eating), polydypsia (you thirst easily). you gain weight and further on you might experience blurring of vision. so better consult a doctor immediately.
