This is my first pregnancy, i noticed my hands and wrist hurting a few days ago, but i am only 5 weeks pregnant. It is not an intense pain but bad enough for me to talk about it. Is this normal??
also i was reading on a website if your urine is dull(clear) it means your having a girl, and if urine is bright it means your having a boy.... is that true?

First, the color of your urine has nothing to do with if you are having a boy or a girl. It is just an Old Wives' Tale - just one of many you'll come across while pregnant. It's hard, but take most of what you hear or read while pregnant with a grain of salt. The hand and wrist pain may be pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. I personally did not have it, but my doctor did. Not every pregnant woman gets it, but it is not uncommon. It is helpful to wear wrist braces, especially while sleeping.

Concerning your hands: the hormone relaxin softens up all connective tissue in your body. This includes that between your joints. You just don't have as much support as before. Try to maintain good posture and use a support under your wrists while typing.

The urine thing is not true. If your urine is bright colored it means that you are either dehydrated or you are taking some sort of vitamin or medication that changes the color. Urine should always be a very light straw color if you are properly hydrated (64 fl oz of water a day).

Have you been taking your prenatal vitamins? Check with your OB or doctor, you may be lacking something that causes pain.
I had a son and now pregnant with a baby girl, urine seems to be the same color... but the pregnancy feels different. My son felt a bit bigger and I had terrible heartburn and cramping in my legs. Right now, I feel pretty good, maybe because I am more active being pregnant and having to care for a destructive 11 months old boy, in a way, I feel lighter on my feet and not as tired.

Well it can be a common problem in pregnancy having to do with the increased blood flow. But usually not that early in pregnancy. As far as the color of urine. Probably no truth to it. Just 50/50 like all hte other wives tales.
Good luck and congrats.

The pain in your hands and wrists is probably carpal tunnel syndrome. It is caused by extra fluid in your tendons/ligaments during pregnancy. There isn't a lot you can do for it, but you can try ice packs, sleeping with your hands above your heart, or a wrist guard. What really makes my wrist throb is walking with my arms at my side. I rest my hand on my tummy (I'm sticking out far enough to have a nice belly shelf :)) while I'm walking.

1- About your hands and wrist i cannot help, you should see your local doctor for this.
2- No it is not true, your urine is clear when you are drinking the right amounts of water but if your urine is bright or dark you are dehydrated and need to drink more water.
I hope this helps.

Really the only sure way to tell what you're having is by ultrasound or by waiting and seeing what you get when the little one comes out. As for your hands that is sometimes due to water retention. I would ask your doctor about it just to make sure everything is okay. Sometimes a person retains too much water while pregnant but I am so exhausted right now that I can't give you an exact name as to what it's called. Good luck with this and make sure you tell your doctor.
