My 22 yr old son is going P/T for the upcoming semester and will not be covered during that time. My concern is that in the case something happens, I would like to know it would be covered if something were to happen. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

He should be eligible for health insurance through the university, that will probably be your best bet for inexpensive coverage.

If someone leaves our company, they have like 45 days to sign up for COBRA. If we don't hear from them right away, we'll end their insurance at the end of the month. However, if they sign up for COBRA during the 45 day window, we will retroactively re open their insurance for them. Now, of course, they will have to pay for it under COBRA. If they don't sign up for COBRA in the 45 day window, then the opportunity is lost.

To expect them to back date something is to expect them to commit fraud. That will not happen.
