I was pulled over and ticketed for going the wrong way on a one-way street. There were no 'one way' or 'do not enter' signs posted, and only one car on the street at the time (facing opposite the direction I was going.) Also there were no lines on the street, and I don't usually drive in this area of downtown. I am going to fight it in court, arguing that under the circumstances I did not know it was one way, OK? (I took pictures of the street and intersection.) Should I plead innocent or 'guilty with an explanation'?

you can contest it and speak to the judge. Speeding in many states dictates that there must be a sign ever so many feet, if there isn't one - then you may beat it, or at least get the fine reduced.

If you are sure there was no sign, then you need to contest it. "Guilty with an explanation" is not really any different than "guilty", since everybody always has an excuse.

Plead not guilty. If signs were not posted, the stree is not one way.

I dunno. I have NEVER seen a one way street not have a sign saying one way. Maybe it wasn't in the immediate area, but I'm sure it was around there somewhere. When you told the cop that there was no sign, what did he say?
