Carter was totally inept as President. It was only later that he became a better statesman, before he became an anti-semitic mouthpiece for the left recently. When we had the oil crisis during his administration, he should have created a "Manhattan Project" level plan to create alternative fuel sources. We'd be in much better shape now if he had. He blundered with Iran... badly... and we're still dealing with the consequences of that. Look at how few people voted for him in 1980! He had killed his political career.
Clinton didn't have that problem. He was popular, and sure he balanced the budget... by raising taxes ad nauseum to the point that he had the highest taxes in any era. Doesn't sound good to me. He also was very weak and didn't respond to the acts of terrorism committed against us... repeatedly! If he had retaliated then, instead of withdrawing from Mogadishu at the first sign of a fight... our enemies would not consider us ripe targets for attack, now, would they?

Did they have charisma? Yes. Were they great leaders? No.

Carter: whats good the world and world peace is not necessarily good for America. He bungled the hostage situation, but managed to not go to war over it. His house building is post-presidency, doesnt apply.

Clinton: HE NEVER GOT US OUT OF DEBT! Unfortunately that does require screaming...
He balanced the budget, meaning we were pulling in more money than we were spending, we were still heavily in debt. Instead of paying off any of that he used all the money he saved to start up new programs to waste gov't money. He also furthered the ruining of our economy by signing horrible trade deals with China.

Among the worst? probably not, but neither was perfect and youre inforamation on both is either misleading or just plain wrong.

The economy was in the toilet under Carter. Fuel shortages caused massive waits at many gas stations. Inflation was soaring. Iran took American hostages and Carter was completely ineffective. Yes, he's done a lot of good works with Habitat for Humanity, but his anti-Zionist book caused people who had worked with/for him for years to flee in droves.

Clinton screwed up his own legacy. He *could* have gone down as a decent President, but sadly, he was more worried about his penis than about running the country. He cooked the books Enron-style to show a balaced budget.

They both decimated our military and raised our taxes.

Carter was a very good man.....but a lousy president. He was not ready for the office and surrounded himself with bad choices. He did not start his work with Habitat until after office. The Nobel was for his peaceful way he handled international affairs (like the Middle East Peace talks known as the Camp David Accord of 1978)human rights work and mostly things he did after his office. He really messed up SALT II. Good man, bad president. As for Clinton......he makes Richard Nixon look honest.

I think Carter made us look weak as a country. The Iran hostage situation (which has been forgtton by most) is an example of that weakness.

I think Clinton was horrible because he lied under oath. He was disbarred for those lies. He also taught our daughters that oral sex is not sex at all.

They both tried to destroy our military. Carter accomplished nothing in four years except high inflation and Iran holing the USA hostage. Clinton only worried about his bimbos.

Carter: because people are under the DELUSION that their economic well being is under the direct control of the president at that time. (This also explains why some liberals talk of the economic boom of the 90s as being a product of Clinton's doing.)

Clinton: Republicans dislike him becuase he stole their ideas and took credit for them (Welfare reform, the Telecommunications Act of 1996)

They are not accurate and keep reading on here. There is proof. One for sure is Greenspan altered the Fed padded low interest rates to make the economy appear flush yet we were on CREDIT. The worst usage in the entire world. ALL during the Clinton administration. Now we are reaping the rewards alright. The mortgage crisis. Thanks.

When Carter was president, the price of peanut butter more than doubled.

With Bush as president, the price of gasoline has more than doubled.

With Clinton as president, the price of peanut butter and gasoline was fairly stable.

Get a clue.
