They receive a lot of money from oil lobbies.

No one should be denying global warming. Listen to Newt Gingrich speak about it.
The problem to thoughtful conservatives is that liberals are using this crisis to promote their usual anti-business, big brother tax and spend programs.
The number one problem is overpopulation. Have you heard any politicians calling out the Pope or the Muslims or the Europeans paying woman to have more children.
The oil companies are easy targets so they put it all on carbon emissions. Check the facts out and it is not so simple.
The pols also like to push alternative fuels. How much money can you waste on some of these ideas that have produced nothing.
Give the free enterprise system some reasonable incentives and they will not only solve the problems but do good for the American economy.
BTW, lying is a perjorative term. Do you really believe the political right gets up in the morning only to plot how to screw up the country? I do believe the political left doesn't care enough to use their god given intelligence.

That's like asking an atheist why he's lying about the existance of Christ. The 'catastrophe' of global warming is a religion to folks like you.

Still, I'll bite, if you'll answer a couple of questions. First, what is the optimum average temperature of the Earth? Secondly, What makes you think we can control the Earth's weather when we can barely predict a rain shower accurately in Chicago?

The arrogance of the left never ceases to amaze me.

Wow - did you poll every single conservative? You never asked me.

I don't know anyone who disputes global warming - but I *do* know a lot of people who believe that the earth has it's own warming and cooling cycles. It's the ultimate arrogance of man to think he can stop Mother Nature.

They aren't lying. They believe what they are saying. That is why it is so important to stop trying to engage them in combat over it and try to find a way we can all agree what is best for our planet.

They simply don't want it to be true. They're afraid of what it might mean for corporate profits and the Dow Jones Index. Seriously, $ means more to them than the welfare of our planet and our species. Plus the fact that the rightwing is usually anti-science and pro-superstition to begin with, there isn't much hope for them to grasp reality at all.

That's a pretty broad generalization. I do not think much lying is going on from conservatives, while fat Albert goes to the bank in his SUV.
