Its not 2 cpus. Its 2 cores. you can't really look at it like that. Its misleading yeah I know, use to work for Intel. The cpu would be @ 1.8, it just has 2 cores where as older cpus are just unicored units. And you can't add them together to think its at 3.8. I see a lot of sites on Ebay say oh pick up a Pentium D 830 @ 3.0ghz BUT with the power of 6ghz. Its false. The actual speed is what its listed at, although this is a pro-rated speed, with help of Oc'ing you can reach higher speeds.

Now the quad series is 4 cores. so its not 4 cpus.

Only things to have multiple cpus right now are servers. And very high end ones.

Its actually 2 cores at 1.8 running at up to 50%. Reason its faster is its running 2 threads at a time versus 1 for the single core. Like 2 12 volt car batteries running in parallel--still 12 volts. Believe me. if it was a 3.6 Intel would be calling it a 3.6 and not a 1.8.

Its per core, so a 1.8 Dual core = 2 x 1.8GHz

its 1.8x2=, thats theorectical, when using xp or windows vista x84 you will not harness all the power of the dual core, but if you get a operating system such as xp x64 bit, or vista x64 bit, you can then use it to its potential.

IT is per core, and you must be speaking of the e4300 . It is one of the best choices I ever made, and it can be easily overclocked if you ever get into the arena. :)
