I've read hundreds of books and the ones that really held my attention and that I couldn't stop reading were the Harry Potter books. I think they might actually be addictive.

Fiction, it would have to be, "The Travels of Charley" by
John Steinbeck. I don't know if it would be the best, but it is the first one, that set a desire in me, for traveling on the open road.... We eventually did get to travel around in a motor home for three years. I need to go back and reread this book. I really enjoyed it.
Non-Fiction, ......and of course my favorite,,,since I am a Christian.........the Bible

The Holy Bible. I still haven't read it all, though.
In terms of anything else, I would probably have to say either Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, or David Copperfield.
