Doesn't matter which one you pick. Any one from ASUS or Gigabyte will do. Gigabyte makes very reliable mainstream boards, ASUS makes very good high end boards. If your budget is low, Gigabyte is your best option. If you are not an overclocker and aren't fussed about overclocking options and stability, you don't need a fancy motherboard, just a mainstream one will do. However if you want a motherboard that supports future upgrades, or if you intend to ditch that old, aging Athlon x2 you're using and upgrade to a Athlon / Phenom II, you're going to want to go with AM3 motherboards. AM2 is end of life. You can also go with AM2+, but I see no reason since DDR2 RAM is starting to become more expensive than DDR3. AMD also plans to stop supporting AM2+ in the future.

Use this chart to judge for your self. Select the type of benchmark you want to see, (example: 3DMark06-CPU-Version 1.1) and compare all the other CPUs out there. A 3800+ 2.0GHz Windsor(AM2) is a bit better than my Pentium D 840(3.2)

I had one , it was ok, but I upgraded to a Q6600 for even more crazy power.
I'll give you an idea
X2 3800 overclocked to 3Ghz --> 21000 FPU in sandra
Q6600 overclocked to 3.9 Ghz -->72000 FPU in sandra

i have one right now, and its great, not completly the best for some games, but as long as you got the video card, you should be alright. It is also very easy to overclock.
