Usually the vasectomy is covered by health insurance. However, the reversal is not usually covered. There might be a few insurance companies that will cover the reversal, but they are few and far between.

Best of luck!

Vasectomy is usually covered 100% by any health insurance. Reversal is not covered by any health insurance that I have ever heard of. There are two good reasons for this:

1. Reversal is largely just a scam. Success is about 25%.

2. There is no business case. Insurance companys want to make money. If your insurance covers a vasectomy then they save a lot of money on insuring children. If they cover a reversal, they are “shooting themselves in the foot”, because any resulting children will cost them more.

BTW: Should you decide to have some sperm samples frozen; insurance will not cover that for the same reason. The also will not cover the IVF required to make use of the frozen samples. Why would they want to cover something that is going to cost them more in the end.

I had Kiaser, when I lived in California. I am pretty sure they normally do cover it, but they refused me (that was 4 years ago, so things may have changed). I am 25 with no kids, and single. I am getting mine next month at a not-for-profit clinic. I was referred to them by Planned Parenthood.

You would need to call to get the specifics of your particular plan. They are all different based on the employer and the level of coverage you have.
