Carl Erskine. The Dodgers beat the Giants 6-5.

Don Drysdale was the opening day starter that year, but they were in San Francisco.

Oops, Frizzer is right. I was in a hurry to post my answer and didn't notice this game wasn't played at Dodger Stadium.

The guy above me is referring to the first Dodger home game on the west coast but it was played in the Coliseum, in 1958, while Dodger stadium was being constructed. I was at the first game in Dodger Stadium in April of 1962 when the Dodgers played the Reds. Johnny Podres started that game for the Dodgers and got the loss. I remember Vada Pinson had four hits for the Reds and Wally Post, remember him, hit a home run for the Reds also. I don't remember the final score but I don't think it was close, Maybe 7-3. This was also in the Koufax era and the Dodgers went on to win 100 games that year but lost a three game playoff to the Giants who went on to play the Yankees in the world series..

I think it was Johnny Podres, in 1962. The Dodgers were good that year and Maury Wills set the stolen base record (prior to Lou Brock).
