draw a number with your values on, count inwards from each side and you should land in the middle. if you land on two numbers in the middle you need to go half way between them.

-8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2
middle number is -5 because it has 3 numbers either side of it.

a) (-8-4)/2= -6

b) (-6 +3)/2= -3/2

c) (-9-1)/2= -5
