Some people don't realise that Seniors ask a variety of questions, because they have had a variety of experiences throughout their lives, have many interests and are not stuck in a one issue world.

I think people sometimes can jump all over a statement made by a senior, because they have different life experiences and a different view of the world. Remember, they've seen a lot of crap in their lifetimes, and we would be very wise to listen to things they say, even though it may seem "out of touch" to us. Old truths never die.

Right now on Seniors we have a skirmish of sorts, being fought by two factions that ASSUME a lot about each other, but have absolutely no PROOF except what they make up in their own imaginations.

This has got to stop!

They are dragging thoroughly innocent bystanders into the feud, and accusing them of all sorts of dire deeds.

And most of these accusations take the form of belligerent answers to perfectly innocent questions.

I say it is time to stop the ridiculous name calling. Stop the childish behaviour. Stop reporting innocent questions and innocent answers as violations of community guidelines.

Both camps need to take a step back and say...whoa are we adults here, or are we spoiled little children?

We need to treat each other as if we have met at the table of an outdoor cafe for a cup of tea or an iced latte. We're casual acquaintances so we know each other vaguely and we don't want to give the wrong impression, so we are on our very best behaviour. The chairs around us empty and fill in a continuous flow as others do the same as us. And we never do anything but treat each other with respect and manners, even if we happen to get into really deep emotional conversations.

Right now this site can be more like early evening at the local bar, when a few of the "guests" started drinking their rye and beer much too early, and now they're feeling big and bad and looking for trouble.

Sometimes the written word does not translate as well as if you were speaking with that person. You can't tell inflection in a voice, to see if someone is just kidding you, or really being nasty. Sometimes the questions are phrased a little differently and it is difficult to discern what the questioner is asking. But that is just my opinion
I don't believe I have received any nasty responses as yet.

Yes, I've gotten nasty answers to questions and I'm not a Senior yet but I'm looking forward to getting my social security in 12 more years when I become 62. I grew up being taught that Seniors are filled with wisdom and knowledge but in this day and time, young people don't respect anyone not even themselve so I know they don't respect Seniors but I respect Seniors 100%. Bless you.

Yes and I do overlook them. Maybe bad day. Feeling moody.
Didn't read my question. Didn't understand the question. Playing games. It's all in good fun. I have tried to get information on subjects of interest that I can't find in my books but am always disappointed. But I am still here and still trying.

A lot of people dont seem to bother to read a question thoroughly. Recently someone claimed I was "whining" about disabled and my disabilities when in fact I had said "some of the young people who are born with CP, MD, and other physical disabilities that leave them severely disabled, lacking in self esteem and often depressed and feeling suicidal shouldnt have to read questions such as ...."

And this person went off on a rant about me whining about my disabilities, which I hadnt even mentioned.

So if people could and would read it might go a long way to them answering people intelligently and politely, a lot of them seem to have trigger words that set them off - and they pop out at them and they go off -

Some react as if everything on Yahoo answers had been personally directed at them - as if we are all here just for them and everything is about them. I believe thats called an "omnipotent personality disorder".

Dont let it get to you. Its only a small part of your life, IMO you have to feel sorry for these people who have such empty lives and such anger problems.

Yes I have... for some reason people are just rude on here.. I guess its because they can hide behind their computer screen so no one knows who it really is saying the hateful things they do... Maybe its just their way of venting off steam from having a bad day? I'm not siding with them I think its not right they act that way.

Yes, definitely... several times. The first one was abusive and rude so I reported him to Yahoo. The second one and the rest, I just ignored and stopped logging in to Answers for a long time.
