I just bought 2 1gb sticks of pc2 5300 667mhz for my gateway labtop which currently has 2 512 sticks in it. Will this be compatible with a front bus speed of 533 mhz? The memory the labtop takes is pc2 5300 ddr.

"The memory the labtop takes is pc2 5300 ddr."

"I just bought 2 1gb sticks of pc2 5300 667mhz "

What's the problem/question?

PC2 5300 is always 667mhz, no other clock speed for it. SInce your laptop takes PC2 5300, then open the panel on the bottom, sitck it in, and go about life as normal.

The 667mhz is a DDR2 and are known to NOT be backwards compatible. Before you install it, contact Gateway, or visit their site and find out, if it is still in the package, you may be able to exchange it for DDR.

as long as the memory fits and as long as the type is correct (the mem your going to put in is the same type) you should be ok. Just remember you can't use different types of Ram at the same time: no DDR and DDR2.
