when i had a mouse the shed where i kept my guinea pigs when i was at home i went to the pet shop and bought a freindly mouse trap. basically a plastic cuboid type thing that you put food in the end and open the door and there is a bar that triggers the door to shut as the mouse enters the box. then just take the box somewhere out the way and release it

A good old fashion mouse trap with some peanut butter on it will do the trick. If you are on the ground floor, don't ever keep your doors open, and check outside for possible entry spots, as it doesn't take but about a half inch opening to let a mouse in. Cats work better when outside, and I found that a good small dog will detect a mouse quicker than an inside cat. You could also buy some dry poison that when eaten will cause the mouse to go back outside for water. When using this make sure you don't have any inside pets or make sure you keep it away from them. Use inside a cabinet or area that the pet will be unable to enter, same goes when using a conventional trap, as you don't want to injure your pet.

Heres how to solve your rodent problem
Mice are group orientated creatures, they live in groups of between 3 and 4 , so if you tthink by killing one mouse you have eradicated your problem think again
This is what you do
Leave well rotted food near to where you think their nest is
saturate it with antifreeze
The rodent loves the sweet taste of the antifrezze
It gorges on the food. It then goes back into the nest , then regurgitates the food to feed the other mice in the nest
When it enters the body , the antifreeze destroys the rodents organs
Death occurs within 4 hours of consuming the food
It works everytime
That way you are sure of eradicating all members in the nest

Good Luck

According to Heloise on GoodHousekeeping.com, if you're dealing with lots of mice, try multicatch live traps or resettable mousetraps. The most important thing is to stop any new ones from getting inside. An adult mouse can squeeze through a space just a quarter inch wide! Close doors and windows tightly and check screens, plumbing and cabinets. Seal any openings and stuff gaps with steel wool. Examine foundation cracks, dryer vents and crawl spaces -- if you see mouse droppings, set some traps nearby. Store grass seed and animal feed in covered metal containers.

you can use moth balls which would stink things up a bit or poison or a simple mouse trap. They have sticky traps out now but I feel they are not very humane. Could you borrow a cat for the weekend? good luck We have mice coming into the house now too with fall in the air but I have two cats for the job. Many poisons out now will simply just dry the mouse out so there is no smell.

DON'T USE TRAPS! If the mouse gets caught and doesn't die, you have a frantic mouse dragging the trap all over the kitchen. Not nice.

I have a plug-in device that emits a very high-pitched sound beyond human hearing. This has worked so far. You can't use it if there are guinea pigs or hamsters in the house. It's expensive (£50 at B&Q).

Do not use poison. If you use poison they can die inside your walls and the entire place will stink for weeks. Use simple traps with peanut butter on them. If you're worried about them running away wounded, you can tie the trap to something with string. Two mice in two weeks isn't a lot. I used to get 1 a day. After a while with traps in good locations, you'll catch them less frequently.

The easiest, cheapest and best way is to get yourself an old fashioned mouse trap, stick a bit of stale bread covered in honey on it ( not cheese) and let it do its job. Believe me, the thing will do its job! P.S. how do you know it was two different mice? did one have an accent?

There is usually a reason why a mouse enters your property. The main reason is hunting for food such as bread, biscuit crumbs or breakfast cereals etc. Check in your cupboards etc. and if there is anything spilt, vacuum it up. If there is no food available it should give up the search eventually and hunt elsewhere.
