its not painful
the doctor scrapes your cervix with a long qtip and feels around inside of you with her finger, \

they will also check your breasts and belly

A pap smear is preformed to check for any abnormal cells. They take a scraping of the cervix and send it to a lab. It can be slightly uncomfortable, but it's well worth it.
