There are many kinds of Nigerian Scams. One is a romance scam just like going on to a dating site and you chat with what seems like a nice girl or guy and you get taken in. that doesn't seem like greed driven. intelligent driven or lack or, or poor ill educated. I saw a similar question on here last week and all the answers were aimed at poor people, greedy people and non educated. most answers were as if none of us could be taken in. Google the name peterwalcolt and see the website on romance scams and read all about it. Btw peter walcolt is a made up name don't worry.

Ms 6 Thank you at least you are intelligent to answer the question but google Peter walcolt and see what you come up with it might protect someone you know someday. It is a real scam that is so frightening. it will take you to a website that is filled with women who have lost not only their hearts but their bank accounts. I weep for them all. Thank you for your kind answers

I know better than to think that. My friend almost fell for one of those scams, when they claim you won a lottery. He isn't stupid, he had been out of work for almost a year, and thought maybe it was real. Far from greedy, far from stupid, he researched the whole thing, even talked to someone connected to the whole thing in Canada. Everything looked legit up until the very last second. Lucky for him, he found out before it was to late, and whatever was left in his bank account would have been gone. So no, I don't think that those people are ignorant, ill educated, or greedy, I think the people who run the scams are ignorant of the fact that in the US there is a very high poverty rate, and they should be glad their hafe a world away, just imagine what would happen if you found the person who tried to scam you out of what little you had?
Sorry, I don't know anyone who dealt with the romantic scams. Just the lottery.

They are ignorant because anyone with a lick of sense would know that something that sounds "beyond belief" probably isn't true.

They are ill-educated because most well-educated people would not fall for it...they have the power of reason.

They are greedy because they think they are entitled to something for nothing. All they see is the dollar signs.
