If the men are guilty of the crimes that they are charged with they are cold blooded killers. As for apologizing to they what would be the reason has anyone apologized to OJ for putting him on trial for murder and then acquitting him? No.
Just because your a service member does not excuse you from the laws of common decency.
According to UCMJ murder is still murderer the killing had no justification other than pleasure or gain. It would seem that these Marines went on a killing spree after a firefight and tried to cover their tracks. In any book that is wrong and shows a criminal intent. Col Murtha USMC Ret. has called it as he sees it.
This isn't the first time the members of Congress have made accusations against people look at the McCarty Hearing and Red Scare of the 1950's . I haven't seen Senator Lindsey Graham climbing to the defense of these Marines and other personnel so accused and he is a military lawyer.
I suggest that you just calm down and don't vote for Congressman Murtha in the next election.

Are you aware that an indictment is a formal charge of having committed a serious criminal offense? Indictments aren't handed out like lollipops. They are decided on by a jury after evidence is presented. Okay - perhaps John Murtha judged them all too quickly, and for those he mislabeled, it would be appropriate to apologise.
But for those who were convicted, the shoe fits perfectly. It is disgusting that the convicted "soldiers" wear the dignified uniform but beneath are no better than criminals. A true soldier would have never done anything so dishonorable.
Remember the Geneva Conventions.

There is a major difference between being a cold-blooded killer and being a torturer or guilty of other atrocities. There is also a major difference between being a killer and being a murderer. Our fighting forces are killers by necessity.
Only a tiny percentage of our soldiers have been guilty of torture or other atrocities, and they are subject to severe punishment, including life imprisonment or the death sentence.
"Cold-blooded" defines the state of mind in which a person can take another human life in a controlled manner and without remorse. This is necessary in combat, which Murtha, as a veteran, should fully understand. He should not have used the term in speaking to civilians, particularly in speaking to politicians. Obviously his statement was made for political purposes, and Murtha has largely disappeared from the scene.

War time atrocities have occurred in all wars, since the beginning of warfare.
Does that excuse anyone?? NO !!! Will it happen in the future?? A prudent person will not bet against this.
War - combat genders a tremendous amount of BAD emotions (for those who have not been there, you are VERY lucky!!!), and yes, shi* happens, even with those who in civilian life would NEVER be guilty of such !!!!
Deny or attempting to hide such reprehensible acts, do nothing to eliminate the fact. To attempt to "soften" the admission of the act/s can not help.
Only the proper American system of justice (& the UCMJ), can address these conditions.
There were only two persons(that I know of) that were ALWAYS blameless in/of all wrong matters, and THE SON WAS CRUCIFIED ABOUT 2000 YEARS AGO !!!!

This is the kind of "nationalistic" fervor that has given America a black eye over the past seven years.
Responsible adults are accountable for their actions. Just out of curiosity....did you read about what happened at Haditha? Because if you did, you would not be trying to defend the indefensible.
Some of the troops were, indeed, guilty of cold-blooded murder. It is not in the best interest of America for you or anyone else to try to politicize the fact that they should be held accountable.

From Kerry to Durbin, from Murtha to Reid the democrats are not supporting the troops as they allege. They constantly attack the troops and try to erode the military in our country.

through fact in case you look into the comments some infantrymen have been killing human beings. and there have been comparable comments from each conflict of man or woman infantrymen or small communities raping and killing harmless human beings. it occurs at times. everybody is so into the troops that they gained't point out the indisputable fact that there are some undesirable apples. and regrettably in conflict civilians get hit. despite if or no longer we attempt to decrease civilian deaths are up for argument. and the conflict is lost- this is not any longer winnable. it in no way replaced into.

I agree that it is NOT only one side that does this... but it's an unfortunate thing that some people can't seem to own up to when they are wrong.
Both Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton crucified those Duke LaCrosse players... have you heard an apology since they were acquitted? Have they even renounced the girl's false accusations?
Has any Democratic candidate denounced moveon.org's ad?
It makes me think of Jerry Orbach's line in Dirty Dancing:
"When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong."
Maybe these people need to be forced to watch that scene.

.John Murtha is an example of why congress has a lower rating of approval than President Bush.
He simply refuses to acknowledge he represents the people of the state of Pennsylvania, not the people of the state of denial.
