She's old, let her be. You should be bringing HER Merlot. Maybe then she won't be so grumpy.

Well...I switched to cans for beer and cartons for wine. Neither dog seemed able to hold on to a bottle. The only problem with the cans seemed to be that their teeth easily punctured the aluminum. Funny how there never seemed to be any spill to clean up though... Anyway, I put the cans in those cooler Styrofoam holder thingys and they have no problem anymore, despite the occasional spill. For the wine, twisting the spout solved the slippery problem of the bottle. Of course, I've had to put duct tape on the glass stems, but I guess we all have to make some compromises, right?

Because your dog is stupid. It's the only answer I could think of. If you get a cat, it would not only bring you a glass of merlot but it would argue with you whether the kendall jackson or sterling vineyard had a better 2003.

Wouldn't it be better to train him to get you a bottle of Merlot?!
(Sorry, didn't see Happy Day's answer!)

No but if you learn to do this, do tell! I would love it if my dog could do my laundry and wash the floors (lol). He sure has plenty of time during the day when I'm at work. He might as well earn his way ;)

Because dogs have dichromatic color vision, like red/green colour blindness in humans and red wine may look a bit suspicious to your dog . Loving you the way he/she does they are protecting you, unless of course they think you have had enough as you are not capable of getting it yourself. You should thank him/her for looking after you.

It's best if he doesn't learn to do that, if he ever gets a taste then he will love and always bring you the glass empty ;)
