The previous suggestions regarding gthe cellular carriers is excellent advice. They provide reasonably priced moderaqtely fast service. You can even purchase routers with PCMICA cards configured for particular carriers networks. ALrernatgely look in your local yellow pages or check http://www.broadbandreports.com to see if there is a WiMax provider in your area. This is simply long range WiFi.

Well you have several different options, but I'm not sure if you're going to like it any better than the satellite option.
The first would be to go to something like the Sprint EV-DO usb device, or the Verizon EV-DO usb device.
Problem is that if you don't have EV-DO coverage in your area, then the download speeds aren't any better than dial up.
If you are in an area that has EV-DO coverage, you'll need the card, and then the play, about $50-$80 a month for unlimited use (now Verizon's unlimited isn't actually unlimited so watch yourself on that one). That's probably the best bet you're going to have, the other is to see what other wireless providers are in your area, some have an antenna like device that attaches to your house that connects via wireless to your provider's equipment, and then runs to a standard ethernet connection. That may also be available, of course there is some equipment cost, as well as a contracted term for this service.

You get them from cellular companies like Verizon. If you're in an area where you can't get DSL or cable though you might want to ask if you can get like a free trial or something. If you're in an area where satellite is your only option I don't know how well the PCI card will work. It all depends on how well your cell phone works.

It depends. In Emmett, Idaho, a provider has set up an antenna where you can use a dish to get a DSL like connection. You are going to have to ask what kind of serives your local providers provide. If you can get cable then maybe that's a choice too.
