You need to talk to the financial director of her assisted living facility. They will then contact the Social Security department to see what has caused your mother's checks to stop coming. At that point, the facility director should set up a direct deposit into the facility's account from the Social Security department, for the amount owed your mom each month for disability. The assisted living facility will take all but about $50 a month of your mom's check as payment for housing, medication, and meals. The remaining $50 will be placed in a resident account for your mom to use for other expenses like clothing, toiletries, etc, and other personal necessities. Call the faciliy director today to get them involved.

You have to talk to social security or whomever the cheques are coming from and find out what she has done. If you have POA then they have to honour that and tell you.
There is a possibility that some con artists got your mother to have the cheques sent to them.
Do you have siblings? Mine tricked mom into signing her investments over to them then stopped the monthly "self managed pension" I had set up for her that gave her an additioanl $350 a month to cover other expenses such as clothing, medications, hair dresser, transportation etc.
You'd be surprised what a person's children will actually do to their parents, my siblings were quite comfortable with the idea that mom couldnt pay her rent and was going to be evicted and her phone had been cut off, and she was in fact penniless.
They had changed the POA as well which I managed to get taken away from them, but they still kept her investments. There was nothing I could do about that so I ended up having to pay all her other expenses which meant after she died I had to sell my house to cover the debts I encurred on her behalf.

Has someone thought ever at the time of despair that there is possibility of light at the end of the tunnel? Hope is the basic motivational force to go ahead. Hypothetically speaking we can say that “hope” and “faith” sits alongside and they are not far away from faith, “belief” is also near about, and very close to “conviction”. There is strong possibility that hope saved a lot of lives, reached more goals, solved lot of problems and overcome many obstacles than any other quality we know.
When all else fails, hope shines. Medical doctors will tell you that often patients started on the road to recovery when they had hope. Hope inspires belief and being component of subconscious mind it produces chemical changes in the brain which comes into action when we start losing hope. Having hope creates a new sense of belief and in many cases a new sense of determination. This rekindles the fire to survive.
If you want to create more hope within your self, you can help by creating thoughts that produce the fertile ground from which new belief can grow. Instead of accepting the despair of futility, create the hope of possibility.

Hmmmmmm the assisted living centre doesn't know where the cheques are?
Do you have power of attorney? Has she been turned over to a trusteeship or guardianship in the state of Alabama and that's why you can't find out where her checks are?
You probably need to contact your mother's lawayer and have him pursue this with alc and or the government.

the answers you have here are taking you in the right direction.
Check up in the office , in the facility. They'll be able to tell you more about the changes that have happened and more that you may expect or see along the way.
As the power of atty you can check into her bank statements and other financial things , as well as being family you can also keep up on her care or medical information.
Dont give up just keep seeking out the information you need. You can also pray about it to be pointed in the right direction to go to find it as well.

You need to contact her SSD case manager and inform her/him of the issue at hand. The case manager can make sure that the assistated living bill is paid and if measures has to be taken can appoint someone as her pay-handler. More than likely that someone will be you if the case manager can prove that you will not take advantage of the extra income.

Chances are the social secutity administration is sending the checks directly to the home care facility. You need to talk with someone in bookkeeping there to find out for sure. Im sure if they didn't get their money already this month...you would have heard about it.
