Any thoughts about the prospect of the world moving towards anarchy? Why or why not?

Parts of the world may move towards anarchy but not all. Even in most areas defined as in "anarchy" there would be the strong groups exercising control (governing) areas so there will never be a time of no governments just a possibility of returning to more feudal or tribal times with Barons and/or warlords reigning over areas; look at Somalia-it was really not anarchy as papers talked about except in the sense the central government did not exist governing was done by tribes and warlords. Anarchy will not take place because the wolves will always control the sheep if the shepherds are all gone. Government is a necessary evil to keep the wolves in check and in anarchy the wolves would be the government; and no the wolves are not the government now-I still own weapons and a wolf will not allow a sheep or an old shepherd the means to protect himself..

NO that will never happen realistically. Even if we have a WW3 the survivors would revert to clan type setups which is a form of government. I do believe that in my lifetime (and I'm over 50), we will see the world grow closer to a single world government. The EURO believe it or not was a big step in that direction. Even though the EURO has pros and cons and supporters and non-supporters. The reduction and ultimately the fall of all communism in the world is another and we are close to the fall of the last of them. Communism doesn't work and those nations left are going broke, even China. Mass communications are bringing commoners together faster and more efficiently. This fact is hurting repressive governments and eating away slowly at their control and power.

Greetings. does anyone actually think we have a viable option to anarchy? Democracy obviously does not work, rule by the masses never has, and politicians are things that live in the dark under rocks and try to pass themselves off as humans. in reality no people ever declared war on other people. Only governments and religions can do that. without either we would just have peace. I personally have no desire to go to Iraq or Iran and slaughter men, women and children just because of their belief, and they have oil. Does anyone else want to? other then our government and the so called Christian Rights movement?

There are a few countries in Africa that are experiencing the joys of Anarchy. If you could speak to the poor people living there you would understand why there will always be governments and there will be no Anarchy.

No, despite what some people go on and on and on about, we need government. I do not think the world is heading to anarchy either.

No, I don't think it's possible or wise. People are social animals who gather instinctively together into groups, and within those groups naturally form hierarchies and power structure. Once some body's in charge, the rules start, and there goes your anarchy.

2. What politician wouldnt want to be able ot tax THE WORLD
3. What politician wouldnt want to mandate WORLDWIDE spending on corps connected to them?
(Ok, lets ignore Dr. Ron Paul for now...)

No. The vast majority of people enjoy the false sense of security that a govt provides to its people, as well as the very real and tangible order and saftey it provides.

If it weren't govts, it would be tribes, villages, etc.

I do think however that strong central authority govt's could be a distant memory in the future if the people truly stand up for themselves in the faces of gloabilzation, greed and power-mongers.

No because throughout history some form of government has always taken over, usually as a dictatorship.

Anarchy would only last for so long until people organize for protection and rally some sort of leadership.
