I have a desktop computer on ebay I am trying to sell. I was wondering if anyone as ever shipped a desktop computer and if so how did you ship it (fedex, usps, ups) and what did it cost. I realize it will vary depending on where I have to ship it to but I am just looking for an average! Thanks!!

Just tower? Or you have monitors and other stuff to go with all that? Was it in original box or do you need packing materials too? Not enough info!

I shipped a tower to Canada from Virginia for $50 with $500 insurance coverage. I packed it myself in a microwave box that I cut the styrofoam to fit the case snuggly.

You should go to great lengths packing it. Get advice from the manufacyurer or from the UPS store. Usually towers go in a box, which goes in a biogger box, with sturdy styrofoam corners sepapratint he boxes.

If you want to ship a monitor, get custom shiping materials. Putting it in a big box with a zillion plastic peanuts won't do it.

All entry level computers, made by HP, Dell, Acer, Gateway, Compaq and others, share parts from same source. For example, CPU; either Intel or AMD. Motherboard, from Taiwan or China. The main differences btw these offerings are the look, style, price, service. If you may need to contact the tech support, you may not like Dell. Dell support for home user is the worst (business tech support is fair). HP's service is reasonable.

I do not know how much it will cost but you could go to the website of how you decide to ship and plug in dimensions and weight. Make sure you use a traceable tracking number and insurance. Pack it properly because i know that stuff gets thrown around a bit.
