Or would you turn it down because you don't take government handouts?

No doubt I would take it. I have worked for all these years and paid in more than my share (considering alot of people who take handouts have not worked) so I think I would deserve it if something happened. Almost everyone I know has had to get assistance at one time or another. I grew up poor, so the people I know have struggled alot and on occassion everyone needs help.

Well if you lost your car how would you get to the place to fill out the paperwork, honestly. If you had to walk you would be half dead by the time you got there. There are degrees of lack and I think that if it came down to overall surviveability Chances are you would have to do something to survive and if it is safer than prositution I would definately take the government handout since I had been paying for it my whole life. But that's if I was in that situation.

I would try to make it on my own. I have family who would take me back in an emergency, and I have savings which could buy a car (even if it's not a nice one- as long as it ran. I could handle that). With the car I could go job hunting and I would take any type of job which would help get me back on my feet. And I would rebuild from there- get an apartment, save more money, get into a new house.

I've done it before with no help from the government and I would do it again.

As much as I have had to pay in taxes over the years I have worked I really think I would be better off quiting my job and sucking up all the giveaway programs the Government has. I would live better off and a hole lot less stress, and get some of those tax dollars back in the process. And if you vote for Hillary Rodhum free medical care to boot.

I've been at the bottom before and i refused to take a handout...even though i had worked since i was 16 and paid my taxes every year....i lost my job and had a baby and could barely afford to keep food in the house, but i knew that i would get another job and that things would get better....guess what, they did and I never did have to use a government handout.....i am not saying they are bad, but they should only be used for temporary help not perminant help like some think.......

I lost my pastime in 2004. I extensive-unfold unemployment. funds that I and my agency contributed. i did no longer lose my abode or my Harley that have been financed on the time because of the fact i be attentive to the thank you to stay interior of my ability. i found yet another pastime and persevered on with my existence without searching for government assistance. Had i necessary it i'm helpful i could have used it quickly to come back on my ft. i would not, I repeat, would not have tried to stay off of the government and made excuses approximately why i could no longer locate an income. I definitely have heard liberals say that my final remark would not ensue yet I definitely have lived in welfare neighborhoods in the time of my existence and witnessed this with my very own eyes and ears.

Been there done that and turned it down flat. There's plenty of time for government assistance when I retire which is soon but while I still could work I did.

Since I have been working since I was 15 and paying for others to get a "helping hand", yes I would apply for it and accept it until I could get back on my feet, which I would try to do ASAP and not be a malingerer.

Yes,
First off, I've paid into it for over 30 years and never asked for, needed, or received any type of assistance.

Second, I would use it for the purpose it is intended--a stop-gap until I am back on my feet.
