House balls are generally not varied enough (weight, finger holes, etc.) to "try before you buy." So, how do you find what's right for you?

First off, you have to find the weight. That's most important. Any good bowling alley will have a pro shop. Go there and ask questions. They can drill it to your specifications. Color is really unimportant. The other is how do you throw the ball. Each ball has different weights to help the hook. Once you do that, you need to practice with it. i have a 14 pound ball that has minimal hook because of the weight. If you want an aggressive ball, tell the pro that. Remember, bowling balls aren't cheap. You need to know what you want to spend. and you want a REACTIVE ball. simple as that
