One of the Portuguese policemen involved in the McCann investigation is himself under scrutiny for torturing a Portuguese woman into a confession involving the disappearance of one of her children. He could himself be involved in the abduction of children including Madeleine and is in the perfect position to deliberately mislead the investigation and to plant forensic evidence to frame the McCann's, hence the sinister turn of focus onto them. He could be behind the leaks to the Portuguese media that are whipping the public up against them knowing that it would play to their national shame at such international scrutiny and also cultural differences - Kate is keeping her composure in public and the fiery continental mentality can't fathom this perceived lack of emotion so are quick to jump to conclusions. Nightmare on nightmare. Let's hope the truth comes out.

My main point is that the police investigation is seriously flawed and it is possible that people seem to speculate wildly about the McCann's yet are not as judgemental about the detective work that all these allegations rest on. The arguement could go both ways, yet people are mostly wanting to believe the worst about the McCanns because in some wierd way, it makes them feel better about themselves. They think something so horrific couldn't happen to them because they are so different to the McCann's because they would never have dined only in eyeshot of their holiday appartment checking occaissionally on the kids, they would not have tried to use the media etc etc. And Ladybugs, to ask what happened to innocent until proven guilty then suggest that it was kate who did it is a huge glaring paradox!

It was not that long ago that Portugal was ruled by a facist dictator, Caetano.
They are stuck with the Police of that era, unfortunately. Most of those police are nearing retirement now, but the mentality remains.
That is why this whole case has been a complete balls-up since day one, and why we are now getting made up allegations straight out of an Agatha Christie novel.

i'm sorry Goldfish, that may no longer the case. this could end without end or happy ending. it will be like the Ben Needham case. too lots time has now elapsed for that to ensue in my estimation. Portugal, like Spain has many factors the place you should bury a physique and it could in no way be discovered. maximum folk on right here haven't any comprehension of the terrain out right here. as quickly as the solar and warmth builds the uppercrust on the soil is almost a rock face. My feeling is the completed ingredient would be decrease while the police have exhausted their enquiries. the information media will circulate directly to the subsequent tale and you lot will do a similar. i'm no distinctive to anybody else, i'm in basic terms speculating, yet i desire my hypothesis is acceptable.

Yes I looked at this programme on TV about this cop. I thought maybe that the McCann's got wind of this and that is why they came back to England. I don't blame them for coming back if they knew about the prevouse case. I think that Mum is still in prison is'nt she.

I am not in favour of stupid speculation whether it supports the McCanns, or is against the McCanns
I have seen too many amateur Miss Marples/ Columbos foaming at the mouth with wild allegations, on this site.
it is sickening

If the Portuguese police can put out a whole string of lies and false evidence, then say "it was a mistake" we know they are using lies as a police tactic.
This is an excellent question , I suspect the Portuguese police, they are definitely not honest and their garbage "evidence" against the McCanns shows that they have told a whole string of porky pies.

Surely that Portuguese cop is innocent until proven guilty?
All criminals imprisoned for murder claim the police officer beat them up. Don't you watch Prison Cell Block H?

I would think twice before making such allegations.
He was not found guilty of torturing anyone, yet.
And where did you get the idea that he himself could be involved in Madeleine's abduction? That is just pure speculation, not to mention nasty.

That's basically the alegation in a Sky News link widely circulated here last Friday. Would it surprise you if I said it's a bunch of lies.? Check my profile for the questions asked about it, and the answers given.

We probably never have faith in foreign justice and this does make you think. However, we can no more say he was guilty of what has been said about him than we can say the McCann's are guilty of Madelen's disappearance. (Discounting the fact the children were left on their own)
