someone i know went on a three wheeled uni cycle, yeah unicycle (only one wheel is on the ground so it is still classed as one lol)
don't go in a helicopter, its been done too many times! and everyone goes in a limo and the pink ones look horrendous!
for my first prom i had a classic car, i think it was a rolls,
for my second prom i had a limo to take us and a jaguar to take us to the hotel.
pony and trap is quite unusual, my friend came on a tractor! but it took forever, you could get a police escort but probably only if you know someone in the police. i think you can get a modified or ex firetruck in some places?
erm ... beach buggies? open top bus? London taxi cab? a land train? inflatable cars (someone went in a post the pat inflatable car to one of mine lol) mini's aren't good if you are wearing a full skirt! a Ferrari? or some kind of sports car! but book early! all the best things go first

If the prom is in town why not have porters carry you in sedan chair? A rickshaw would be different and less expensive. And think no horses, no mess.
Forget the hot air balloon, it's a nice but undependable and not particularly safe in populated areas or at night. You have a better chance of getting a UFO. Hey? -now that's idea though a helicopter might be easier to find.
Have a chauffeur who looks like Ward Clever (from the old TV show Leave It To Beaver) drive you there in an restored 1959 Edsel.
And if money is no object who don't you and your date come in on a parade float.

The school I graduated from had a parade to the school before prom. Every year people show up with a horse and carriage, tractors, fire trucks, coaches sitting in the back of trucks, old cars, and of course limos. Coming in from the air somehow (helicopter, hand glide, parachute), would be orriginal, I don't know how affordable though.

Yeah - you will be the envy of the prom if you turn up in a horse and carriage.
You can hire a horse and carriage for the similar price of a limo.
Have a great time ;-)
