If I had to compare their careers I'd say that Madonna has had a more successful career.
Personally I prefer Cyndi Lauper as an artist.

Although I admire Madonna for her ability to sing, dance, and market herself, I really like Cyndi Lauper. I go for the cutesy look and that adorable baby voice. But in a motherly way, in case you are going to say something stupid.

Cyndi Lauper. I love her since the beginning because of her unique attire and voice. I remember an article about her saying that she can break a glass with her high pitched voice (though I'm not sure if that was true. Anyone heard or knew about this?). I missed her when she disappeared.
