When the hospital staff is keeping you alive because you can't do it on your own. Why?

When someone is hooked up to a ventilator that pumps air into your lungs to keep your breathing...doesn't necessarily mean that you will die.....but gives you a fighting chance if you can recover from whatever contributed to you having to go on life support.

It's artifical air being pumped into your lungs to keep your heart and brain alive, even though they pretty much in most cases feel your dead.

if u are talking about being in the hospital, then it is being hooked up to a machine to help you breath and stay alive, if thats not what ur talking about i have no idea
