Some of the benefits a dictatorship may have is the ability to effectively counter security problems with wiretapping and arrest criminals without warrants and the ability for the government to manipulate the rate and prices at which manufactured goods can be produced, how there produced, when there produced, and whats produced rather then having it be the choices of individual corporations. Pretty much the only time a dictatorship government can be beneficial is if its a country that has severe problems with maintaining domestic tranquility. Or countries in poor economic status that the liability of irresponsible decisions by corporations can jeopardize all its populations. That way the government can forcefully regulate conservation and consumption of resources. Unstable countries like Iraq for example with all those different ethnic tribes that want to kill each other unfortunately worked better under a dictatorship because the government then has the authority to prevent domestic problems through arbitrary arrests of "potential troublemakers" spying on residents and not have to go through the warrant process. That way residents are intimidated from attempting anything and tranquility is maintained. Or some countries in Africa would benefit from a dictatorship because they have sever shortages in agriculture and resources that the need of an iron fist to control resource consumption would be necessary to prevent famine or shortages. That way they don't have to worry about corporations making irresponsible decisions in consumption of resources that endanger all citizens. It sounds effective in theory but unfortunatly its human nature that one can't resist the hidden desire to misuse their power. Thats why such governments have often become oppressive and have failed to effectivly solve problems that would of been solved by that government in theory.

An outright dictatorship gives the people the right to blow the dictator's brains out. Which will at least improve the gene pool. I can't think of any other benefits.

The trains never ran on time in Italy, until Mussolini was dictator and decreed that anyone making a train run late would be put to death. The trains ran on time after that.

While the solutions of dictators are effective, I'm not sure we want to live that way.

If I'm the dictator the benefit would be that everybody would have to agree with me and things are done the way I like. if I'm not the dictator then that would explain the disadvantages.
