Of those two things the first, between the Dem and Rep, is more likely to do it. The lack of civility, understanding, respect and willingness to compromise if continued with radicalize both wings even more then they are now. This will paralyze the political process and either destroy the governments ability to govern or lead to a more sensible third party in the middle of the spectrum making both parties immaterial. I am conservative and usually Republican but both parties are falling onto the arms the extreme wings, both are guilty of the attack ideas instead of set forth ideas and both need to change or just go away. My point is made above by some of the answers from both the left and right.

Neither one. You are missing the point altogether. If America ever fails to the point of anarchy, wholesale violence and outright survival all across the nation, it will be due to a financial crash.

If this country in its present condition were to ever see another depression like the one in 1933, it would not likely survive as a republic. People are just too dependent on others, technology, and most would not have a clue how to begin to make it under those conditions. Most do not know how to even change the oil in their own car. How would they survive?

The fact that most Americans have substantial debt and car loans they cannot afford is the single biggest threat to this nation.

The Democratic Party's embrace of Marxism, and the Republican Party's failure to prevent Democratic Party dragging us into socialist hell.

But it really is due to the people of the US who have decided they can vote themselves "bread & circuses" without consequence. That was how the Roman Republic fell into dictatorship, and that is how this Republic will fall. As people vote themselves retirement money, health insurance, education, housing, etc, they give the government more power and control over their lives.

All these self-serving outlays are contrary to every belief that underpinned the Constitution. They are contrary to everything that traditional liberalism stood for - independence from government control.

It will be caused by people who think that "free lunch" exists, and that they can give government more power, money and control and still keep their freedoms. Such people doom our grandchildren to lives of servitude.

It's a matter of priorities...we must win the war against Democrats before there is any chance of winning the war in Iraq...Democrats will do anything to make us fail in Iraq...the higher the body count the better for them.

There is no such thing as the "war on terrorism". It is just a propagandistic cliche. Terrorism is a tactic, how can anyone fight against a tactic?
