I have received directly from a major league baseball organization 2 autographed baseballs. One of them has a MLB Authentication sticker, the other does not. The organization did provide a short unsigned yet dated letter stating the contents of the shipment but it's not even on any kind of letterhead. Can or should I provide a COA for these balls seeing as though they came directly from the team HQ or maybe just provide a copy of the letter and the DHL shipping waybill?

I would provide a statement clarifying how you obtained the balls, be truthful and precise and say that they were sent to you...also the idea of adding the letter and the waybill would be good. I did the same thign a few yrs back with autographs sent thru the mail...while I couldnt 100% prove that they were signed by the people, I did put on my statement the procedures I took and that it was being done in good faith. If people understand that you are being honest and truthful and with the things you have, done, you are not deceiving anyone and that its being done in good faith, you should have no problems with it. As long as it is done with letting the buyer beware, you havent done nothing wrong

A copy of anything you have should go with the ball and it would not hurt to provide a certification yourself offering to return 100% of any investment should the signiture turn out not be accurate and original. Also, there are services you can go to that will confirm the signature on the ball and they will provide you with a ceterficate of authenticity, which might be a better way to go. The downside there is cost which could be $50, or more for the background check and certification.
