It is my mom's cat's name (Abby for short)....and the cat is mean as can be...so it makes be think of a cranky black cat....I call her "crabby abby". So, I don't really like the name either.

It will always remind me of the King Diamond CD 'Abigail'.
His band also brought out a CD called 'Melissa'
I guess Abigail is better than Abby or Gail!

It's definitely not a name I would use, nor would I suggest it. I think there are worse names, but no I'm not a huge fan of Abigail. Just a personal preference though.

it's the name of the soubrette, lady's made in many comedies of 17-18 and so on centuries. The even used it as a common name to describe a crafty, cunning lady's made: "The abigail picked up his note..."

I think it's ok. I don't hate it but I wouldn't name my kid Abigail. It's not very modern sounding. I can't stand Madison, Addison, Kaden, Jaden, Kylie, Riley, Mason, etc. more!

I think it's a sweet name, if a little plain. But it's not nearly as common as it used to be, so I think that it'll eventually loose that "plain-jane" feel to it.

^_^ but if you don't like it, then there's probably good reason! Some people just don't like certain combonations of sounds ... I think it's really classy of you to just come out and say you don't like it without bashing it or running it through the ground
