From the time J. Morris Anderson first created and produced the Miss Black America Pageant on August 17, 1968 until the present, there has always been one major question asked: Why should there be a Miss Black America Pageant since there is already a Miss America Pageant? Always, the answer has been: “To provide a forum for the Black Man to say his wife is mentally, spiritually, and physically beautiful the same as the white man has a forum through which to say his woman is beautiful.” The MBA Pageant has always provided a stage on which the Black woman could display her talent; a platform on which she could air her views; and, a pedestal from where she could reign as a universal symbol of pride and dignity.

it is not a normal event for a black woman to be chosen to represent her city, state, and then country EVERY YEAR
in the past, there were none PERIOD (until a Miss Ohio I think in the 1960s, i forget, she used to date Adam Clayton Powell Jr. though)
the Miss Black America pageant was started in the times when you didn't see black beauty queens
the fact that we have had a few in modern times does not change the facts
as for Miss White America pageant, there are several pageants that have NEVER had a black queen (like America's Junior Miss or Maid of Cotton)
a black Miss America must help with general issues
Miss Black America can do things specifically for the black community (which is hit very hard in crisis times like now)
as i have said many times, black people are represented poorly in mainstream society so we have black magazines, books, shows, etc to better cover who we are

I hear what you are saying. But, unfortunately, the regular Miss America pageant has a history of defining beauty as that of White features. Ladies of color were completely excluded in the earlier years. When they did start entering, the successful ones usually had thinner lips, noses, straightened hair, etc.
The idea behind Black Miss America is to promote Black features as being beautiful, too.

Ummm what does this might desire to do with theatre? My own opinion is that there is just one race...the human race. i do no longer care what coloration you're, what u . s . you return from or who your ancestors are...ultimately all of us come from an identical place and all of us bleed an identical coloration. some human beings purely choose to no longer use their brains. i choose to stay my existence the way i choose to stay it that's respecting everybody. I advise you attempt doing an identical. you would be a lots happier individual and individuals ought to coach you a sprint extra appreciate. you're able to desire to furnish appreciate as a manner to get it. the only splendid fact replaced into Freedom isn't unfastened. you're suitable. human beings made sacrifices for each individual's freedom in this u . s .. In international wars, civil rights strikes or perhaps suitable now in Iraq and Afganistan. everybody is death for you. Do you quite think of you're honoring those human beings? no longer purely that, however the only actual individuals are people who've grown up on the Indian reserves. they are the actual individuals. something everybody is purely transplants from diverse countries too. Freedom is fought for, yet appreciate must be earned!

exclusive black and exclusive white are both rasicm.
The key is to realize that the difference between black and white is mearly skin deep.
However, isnt it also true that having a miss America pageant that excludes men is sexist?
Personally, I could care less about a bunch of women parading around in bikinis. Even if they would buy everyone in the world a kitten if they had a million dollars.
I am still waiting for my kitten....

Often winning? Ya right! When will some of you realize that these black organizations have been around for decades and in some cases, centuries, and only came about because blacks were excluded from mainstream society and various organizations. There would have been no need for them had there had been equality from the get go, so don't start crying racism now that we've got our own. Blame yourselves, or better yet, your great grandfather and his father before him. Peace

Do you stay up at night thinking of things to get angry about?
Either way, you should read more. There's a lot of things going on in the world that need addressing before we worry about the silly stuff.
