I cant get the nut that holds the whole assembly on to loosen without the whole thing spinning. I tried tapping the wrench with a hammer but it still will not come off and i dont have a strap wrench big enu to hold the pulley.

always hit bolts to be loosened with Liquid wrench prior to removal, best if done a day in advance, then hold the fan and loosen the bolts before you remove the belt... remove the shrowd first..
not a big job

There are four cap screws that hold the entire assembly to the waterpump hub near the center of the driven pulley that need to be removed. They are right hand capscrews just like every other small block Chevy.

Air Gun will do it.

You can take it to shop and see if they can just loosen the bolt off for you and that's it. Might cost ya 10 bucks, any more and he's being a weenie. Also to tighten it back on.

First, make sure your turning it the right way. A lot of times, the nut is left handed. It should tell you somewhere on the fan cover.
