Okay, I respect the fact that she feels the Iraq war is a farce (I agree with that) but why are so many people upset that she was censored. Hey my feelings are that a the censors were on the money in cutting that crap out. There ARE kids at home watching this show with their parents.

One would think that an Oscar winning actress like the Flying Nun would know that there are times and places to express political opinions.
She must've had another Sybil moment.

I don't watch the Emmys--and this is a great example of why I don't. The job of a 'star' is to ENTERTAIN me. I don't want to hear their political views --especially when most of them have less than a high school education. I am not saying all actors/actresses are dumb, but rather show me a Hollyrude celeb with a degree in political science and I may be interested in hearing their views...........outside of an 'entertainment' venue.

Just as most of Hollywood they don't take into account that these award shows are supposed to family oriented.....and using these shows to curse and use as a political tool is just wrong...I'll be thankful when these shows become a thing of the past and the disregard and disrespect for the shows true meaning will end.

I like her... I really, really like her. Please remember that 'god-dammed' is used frequently in every day life and it is also accepted by the US TV censors. I also happen to believe that God would in fact 'damn' this war based upon the teachings of the Bible. However, this censoring appears to be political in nature. The Canadians did not censor her and those citizens experienced freedom of speech, but FOX did not feel that this freedom was appropriate.

"Technically, Field's censored words are not profane. A 2004 FCC ruling specifically stated no objection to the use of "goddamn" on TV when making a judgment on the uproar over Bono swearing at the Golden Globes in 2003 where he used more colorful language." (see http://www.fcc.gov/eb/Orders/2004/FCC-04-43A1.html)

I like what she said so much that I just have to repeat it:

During acceptance speech:

"Surely this [award] belongs to all the mothers of the world. May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised. Especially to the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm’s way, and from war. I am proud to be one of those women. If mothers ruled the world, there would be no...

"god-damned wars in the first place."

After event...

"And I very, very seriously think that if mothers ruled the world we wouldn't be sending our children off to be slaughtered."

I think she was censored for her use of the words "god d***", not because of the content of her speech.
