I get the same thing all of the time I am 25 but I look 18. Me I learn to except it, but you can try cutting your hair short, where makeup and change the way you dress. Oppose to dressing like a 20 year old dress like a 25 year old. And as far as a good response ignore it. If you show them it bother you they will always tease you about it. Just say oh well and move on.

My boyfriend is 28 and noone even believes he's over 20. I know where you're coming from, I had been mistaken for a child when i was 18 (a waitress gave me a kid's menu, complete with crayons and coloring... and my little sister (about 10 at the time) didn't get one..) so I know how you feel. Just wait it out, someday you will appreciate it!

As for how to respond, I usually just shake my head and laugh.. it's really the best way to get through those years where you still look much younger than you are

It is frustrating, but you just need to accept that you look young. I also look much younger than I am. I am 30, and I am routinely carded at the gas station for cigars. It's funny because I usually think I'm older than the cashier! This was most frustrating to me during my college years around your age. Just hang in there. Now that I'm 30 it's kind of fun to look 20-something. There isn't much you can do about it, other than being stylish about your make-up and attire. Just be glad you have your health and that your don't look like some old geezer!

I had this problem at your age. I was teaching businessmen English and I needed NOT to look like a kid!!

Dress formal; tailored suits and pant suits give the impression of maturity more than jeans and a t-shirt.

Wear makeup, but learn to apply it skilfully! Go to a cosmetic shop or estheticienne and ask them to teach you to do it right.

Get an attractive bob, about chin or shoulder length, or if you want to keep your long hair, do it UP, in a chignon or French braid. Long, loose hair says "young girl", as does a ponytail or single braid. I liked the "Eva Peron chignon"--a single braid on the back of the head, folded on itself and pinned up in a chignon.

I am now 45 and people think I'm at least 10 yrs younger. You probably have beautiful skin. Take care of it.

I have been wondering that myself. I have been turned down at jobs because I look so young. I have also been told that I "am so young" that I don't know what I am talking about. And when people tell me that I should be happy to be looking so young all I want to do is scream. Sorry I am not able to give you answer but I will tell you that you are not alone. I am going to have to give you a start for such a great question!

A great way to respond is "Thank you!"......I've always had that same problem, but I didn't really think it was all that frustrating when I was younger. I used it to my advantage, when I could, and used my real age to my advantage when that was better! Now, I'm just pretty grateful everyone thinks I'm about 6 or 7 years younger than I am....very nice when you're in your forties!

I too look very young for my age BUT, im 44 now and people think that Im in my 30's. Its a great compliment but I know how you feel cause when I was in my early 20's, alot of people thought I was a teenager. I was always asked for ID.
Give it a couple of more years and it wont bother you.

Good Luck

Dress more professionally and gather up your confidence. Those are two things that will help people take you more seriously. When they comment on how young you look, just say thank you and smile. I was 23 and worked a second job at Taco bell. I closed the store every night. One night, a woman came to the drive-thru at 12am and asked me "does your mommy know where you are?". I smiled and said that she lived 200 miles away and that I was 23. She asked why I looked so young and I told her good genetics and told her to have a good night.

Same thing with me-- I asked a question about my age the other day and everyone thought I was 15-17...and I'll be 25 in November!...I guess the only thing you can do is wear more conservative "older" outfits and do you hair/makeup in a certain way... I actually like looking younger.

it is a bit strange that you consider it as a problem...

people are wasting their money just to look so young and here you are wanting to be older...

but its acceptable at times that you should look as with your age. im just thinking maybe it is work related that sometimes people get this impression that you are young making you less experience and weak.

it is not actually with the looks but it is how you carry yourself. even if you look young but you act so mature then it would be a big compliment with you. it is really a big asset. try to compose yourself and should practice acting like a real woman, mature that have a lot of experience.

if it doesn't work still then always caryy your ID or perhaps your birth certificate heheh just kidding =)
