This is one of those questions that we'll never be able to answer really because we're not him. One thing life experience has taught me though is that when someone is not nice it's all about what's going on in that person's life. People who are not nice are in pain someplace inside themselves. This trainer may some emotional pain from a past relationship and you remind him of the other person. He may not even be aware of his attitude, he may not even be thinking about you when you notice these things. For sure don't take it personally. Trust your instincts and steer clear of him as you've been doing. Be true to yourself and stay kind. I encourage you to put your attention in another direction...don't trip about it.
Meantime, keep shining!

Well you could ignore him and just continue what you are doing, or you can approach him and ask him why the attitude all the time. I mean some guys have a problem of just kinda acting like a jerk cause they don't know how to act around a girl that they like or that they want to get to know better. I have know this with some trianers cause they can get girls very easily, however, when it comes to one they actually want they can be massive jerks. I would just ask him what is his deal and if he is still a jerk then tell him to F off and just ignore him.

He may not like you or he may like you too much. Either circumstance would be uncomfortable for you both.
Or he may be busy and you make demands of his time that you are really not entitled to, be patient. Perhaps you need to learn "gym etiquette" in order to get along better, perhaps he does.

A teacher I know used to call PE staff 'gorillas' and said that many enjoy making those not in their mould uncomfortable. Even younger children.

Seems to me that the man is a bit (or a whole lot) shallow and wants women to fall all over him. Ignore him.

He fancies you, and cannot bring himself to chat with you, would you consider breaking the ice and chat him up? If he's fanciable to you go for it, you have nothing to lose so...Good Luck.. xxx
