Can anyone help? I need the answer to these questions:

1) Solve, then state if conditional, inconsistent, or an identity equation.
1/2b-1/2=1/4b
I did this to answer so far... but I'm not sure if I did it right:
4(1/2b-1/2=1/4b)4
4/4b-4/4=1/4b
4/4b-4/4b-4/4=1/4b-4/4b
-4/4= -3/4b
-1=-3/4b, 1=3/4b Is that right?

ALSO, is it a conditional, identity or inconsistent equation?

(1/2) b - 1/2 = (1 / 4) b
2b - 2 = b
b = 2

No
you forgot to multiply by 1/4b by 4 in (4/4b-4/4=1/4b) that step.
My steps to solving this problem would be:
1/2b-1/2=1/4b
1/2b-1/4b-1/2=0
1/2b-1/4b=1/2
1/4b=1/2
b=(1/2)/(1/4)
b=(1/2)*4
b=2

if b is in denominator

1/2b - 1/2 = 1/4b
multiply with 4b

2 - 2b = 1
2b = 1
b = 1/2

if b is numerator
(1/2) b - (1/4) b = 1/2
(2/4) b - (1/4) b = 2/4
b = 2

you have to find a common denominator which is 20, so: 3/4b=15/20b, 2/5b=8/20b, and 1/2b=10/20b and 15-8-10= -3, sooooo -3/20 is the answer if im not mistaken

kinda correct, i don't follow what you do at the end though
times each side by 4 to get
4/2b - 4/2 = 4/4b
2b - 2 = b
2b - b = 2
b = 2
so i think identity equation

Multiply through by 4b

2 - 2B = 1
-2B = -1
B = 1/2

It's neither inconsistent nor an identity, so I guess it's conditional.

You made an error. Mazsheps is correct. The answer is b=2.
You should have multiplied both sides by 4 and you missed that in your first step.

1/2b - 1/2 = 1/4b
4(1/2b-1/2)= 4(1/4b)
2b-2=b
(2b-2)-2b=b-2b
-2=-b or b=2

0.5b-0.5 = 0.25b
-0.5 = -0.25b
-0.5/-0.25 = b
b=2
