Same Trany When New? change oil, filter and flush trany (At 239,000 the trany may be gone). Check Distributor timing (Setting), Plug wires and wire routing.

It could be the battery or alternator. Have the battery tested at an auto parts store or a garage (it only takes 5 minutes). If the battery is bad you will notice a significant loss of power; the same thing goes for the alternator. Also I would recommend replacing the fuel filter and air filter, as both will greatly reduce your power.

Squeeking sound, hmmm, check your serpentine belts and your timing belt.

Normal maintenance and tune up will help.
- Check Spark Plugs and Wires (if they dont need replacing then dont)
- Check your Timing Belt (If it has a timing belt it could be a chain)
- Check to see if your battery and alternator are working as they should, which I believe they are.
- Replace your PCV Valve (Inexpensive Piece)
- Have your EGR Valve Checked (Inexpensive Piece)
- Your Catilytic Converter could be clogged (I said could be, doesn't mean it is, restricted air flow will make your car die out on you)
- I dont think it is your transmission, unless you dont have enough fluids in there, which I kind of doubt, but possibility.

I would recommend changing the fuel and air filters too.

Hard to diagnose something through a simple description.
