Spiders must remain still otherwise they cannot determine if slight vibrations occurring within the web are prey, and conserves the spider's energy for catching and wrapping insects..

Put yourself in the spiders position! If you were sitting down quiet like minding your own business and some massive giant walked towards you i think you would move too!!

Because they are trying to get away from you or are protecting their territory. Most of them will try to run away but the Wolf Spider will actually dig in it's back legs and raise it's front legs in attack mode.

because they are hoping you dont see them, and that the bugs they're after dont see them untill it is to late.

P.S, do you know most people will eat up to 8 spiders a year, this is at night; when they come down to drink from your open mouth whilst you you sleep, hey, where else can they get a drink.

In threir world of creatures..they're the predators and insects are the prey. In your world of humans...spiders are your prey and you are the predators. But in another way I would say that if your GF called you and you felt sleepy..would you move to her...or would you rather have a sleep?

Everything in nature (apart from us) follows a few simple rules.

The biggest being can I eat it, or will it eat me. They think they are on the menu as we are obviously in a better position to eat them than they are us.

They also are used to being hidden or camouflaged in a natural environment so hope not to be noticed, once they feel threatened however they will run. They will only drop onto a threatening posture if they think they are trapped.

They are probably scared or threatened; most spiders are territorial and may think that you are invading their space.

I think that spiders are more frightened of us than we are of them actually.
