Well, I think that was part of it, but I don't think that was the whole story. Not only that, but even though a lot of Americans expressed disapproval of Clinton's private conduct, his approval rating was still very high when he left office. A few years ago, there were tabloid articles claiming that Bush was having an affair with Condolleezza Rice. However, hardly anyone talked about this. Perhaps it was an indication that the American people didn't care about the President's private life and/or that they had gotten their fill during Monicagate. Consider this, though. Bush's approval rating has been at a record low for a long time now. I don't think that tabloid articles have anything to do with it, though. Rather, it's his PERFORMANCE. As I mentioned earlier, when Clinton left office, his approval rating was still high, despite his administration's scandals. Again, I think that it all boiled down to PERFORMANCE. As you mentioned, Clinton gave us "peace, prosperity, subzero deficit", whereas Bush has given us the exact opposite.

First of all, things didn't go all that well nationally and internationally during the Clinton years. Enron didn't start cooking the books the day he left office, that had been going on for quite some time, and was a direct (and predictable, and predicted) result of Clinton's interference with CEO compensation. We went to war in Kosovo, and agreement is less than universal as to whether or not we chose the right side. Nothing was solved in North Korea, and nothing was solved with Israel and Palestine, despite efforts to do something productive about both.
No, I think the scandals were actually the good parts of the Clinton years. If you wipe those clean, all you have left are Whitewater and the Cattle Futures (which happened before Clinton became President) and the attempt to nationalize healthcare that failed.
Now, if you really want to wipe the slate clean, what you have left are the Senate records of Hillary and Barak. How does that stack up? How does it compare to Giuliani's record during the same period, despite that only covering a year? What do you have to oppose Romney if you leave out his personal life as a Mormon?
No, I think intelligent people want to know who the person is, and character is something that can only be judged by viewing them long-term.
Hillary's is lacking.

Bullshit! The Dislike is valid and based on far, far more than Sex. The Rose colored glasses of time seem to have clouded Things. The Clinton's latest Money scandal with Mr .HSU is just one of a long line thing dating back to Arkansas. The Rose laws firm, Vice Foster, MOve ON.org, Travelgate, 4 different SEC DEF's , Jannet Reno & Waco, The Cattle Futures, The Chinese money, Don't ask don't tell, The health care program, NAFTA, Black Hawk down, THe Uss Cole & other Terror attacks, The Haiti & Bosnia Operations, Etc.....
And that does not even mention any blue dress or Paula Jones et al.

No. All you had to do was pay attention to the news during his two terms in office to dislike him. He was a liar before he was ever elected, he was a liar during his two terms of office, and he is a liar now. If he had been paying attention to world and domestic events instead of "getting some" in the study off the Oval Office, there is a chance 9/11 might not have happened. Whenever he is asked about Syria offering Bin Laden to him and him refusing, Clinton gets mad and says there were no charges to hold him on. But in fact there were. Al Qaeda was responsible for the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993--Bill's first year in office. But Clinton told Syria to let bin Laden go.
Then he lied under oath and was later disbarred by the New York State Bar Association.
That's not tabloid "sex with Monica" stuff. That is real life news. And that's why I dislike him so much. I don't care if he cheated on his business partner...uhhh wife Hillary. That's not for any of us to judge.

Miss K: Please don't speak for others... I don't like Bill Clinton.
I also don't like Hillary Clinton. In fact I probably dislike over 50% of politicians.
Thank you though, for trying to speak on everyone's behalf.

Tabloids don't give military secrets to China.
Tabloids don't provide illegal land purchases and use American tax money to defend their legality.
Tabloids don't make years worth of documentation disappear when told by the Grand Jury to bring in their records.
Tabloids didn't cause Bill Clinton to sexually harass Paula Jones. Jennifer Flowers. AND a host of others. Or gain them a BJ from Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office.
Tabloids aren't usually deemed very highly respected, but they don't MAKE people like the President of the United States do dumb things over and over and over again.

I didn't need the tabloids to tell me to dislike Clinton. I was 16 at the time he lied under oath and I lost respect for him because of that.
In all honesty, his cheating ways were between him and his wife, but lying to the country under oath is what did him in.

I hated Clinton long before his dalliances became public because he was a crook and a liar before any sex scandal came to light, so in a spirit of fair play and bipartisanship, he still sucks eggs, and so does Hillary.
