Why would you vote for a candidate that continuously bashes the opposition? Why not discuss their own accomplishments and leave out the bashing of others. What does that say about their character?

I really don't like negative campaigning. I think it is a distraction from the issues and speaks to the lack of substance of the candidate doing the negative campaigning. Also, it does say that the person has a fundamental lack of respect for the oppostion, and I am a true beliver in keeping politics civil.

Seeing negative ads instantly turns me off, and makes me much less likely to vote for the person doing it, and I really think it dilutes the message the candidate is trying to send about their own positions.

They usually do leave it to others. Rarely will they have the nerve to do it themselves. That is why we have the term called "swift boating".
