My baby is due this week. We decided on Lillian (Lily) a long time ago and love it. The last initail is V. We had originally pickey Lillian Marie V. (marie for grandmothers name) but lately we have been thinking, why not do what we really want, its a chance to name someone, after all! We wanted Lillian Valley V. It flows very nicely with the last name.... Buuuuuuuuuuuut... is it stupid??!!! Does it sound like we are hippies? i honestly think its pretty (like liliy of the valley) and wouldnt have minded it if it was mine. What do you think?

Here's the thing. Lillian is beautiful. Valley just takes away SO much from it. It makes it sound a totally different way....silly. Sounds like the name OF a valley. (i.e. Napa Valley, Silicone valley)

On the flip side......if you like it, use it. Because, I learned a valuable lesson from my first child. The only time you use the middle name is the first month or so when you tell people or for the birth announcements. It is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things! People overlook testing out how the first and last sound together!

I would say Valley is yuck!, but when you explain Lily of the Valley and your last name, like mine, starts with a V, it may just work. Lillian Valley Villareal LVV. Lily Villareal. Lots of people give family names in the middle name, so I don't think this is too strange, and not at all hippi-ish. Definitely better than Marie.

How about Lillian of the Valley Villareal? There's no reason she can't have "of the" as part of her middle name. Lots of people have two or three middle names for their kids.

I'd let my daughter know that this is your special flower. You are a special flower, too, so we named you after this one. Have a picture of it around, maybe a picture of Lily with the flower with a subtitle "Our Lily of the Valley."

Lots of crazy ideas this morning, I guess. I hope it helps. I can get crazy creative at times.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!!!

i think lillian valley is lovely really pretty and as you say it flows beautifully

i'm not so keen on lily valley - that does sound a bit silly

so if you keep her name as lillian it's great and i would keep the marie in there as well for grandmother

so it's lillian valley marie v

i also love the name lilac and lydia

good luck with the baby

I think it's very pretty, but definitely heavy on the hippy factor. But what do you care? Do what makes you happy. And if she doesn't like her middle name when she grows up, she can always just keep it as an initial, and go by her first name. Good luck.

I'm sorry but I personally don't like it. The word "Valley" SOUNDS pretty but the meaning does make it sound hippy-like.

Um, maybe you should use Valerie instead. Valley is kind of ridiculous.

I like it, its a little old fashioned and classy, my g. grandmother was named Vinia, but was called Viney all her life. I think you've made a good choice.

I like it very much, it sounds very serene and lively all at the same time. I don't care much for average names.

Congrats!
