it is probably the fuel pump, the pump is inside the gas tank and is kept cool by what gas is in the tank. it isn't a good idea to run much below a quarter tank of gas to prolong the life of the fuel pump. gm products with in tank elec. pumps are known to have the elec plug in go bad. sometimes if you pound on the gas tank, with a rubber mallet, it will get the pump going again. oh and also, only ford products have a reset switch for the fuel pump, it is a inertia switch so when you are in a accident the pump shuts off in case of fire.!

It sounds like the fuel pump quit. You have to check for spark outputs and fuel pressure. Chase the one that isn't working by checking the circuits to the problem area. Usually in cases like this, the fuel pump overheated as it sits in the gas which keeps it cool. Running it low like you did humped it. When the cold gas hit the warm pump, it opens and it won't work anymore.

seems such as you have the two a clogged gasoline clear out or a defective gasoline pump. The voltage meter has no longer something to do with the motor vehicle having died. Your motor vehicle's tool panel lights up and the VM exhibits 0 till the motor vehicle is working. yet another possibility may be the in-line ignition fuse placed in the back of a panel rapidly left of the guidance column. this can be the 1st factor you should verify.

If the engine cranks over, don't worry about the volt reading, and get the fuel pressure checked. You could have a bad fuel pump.

my friend had a situation just like yours with his ford explorer. bring your car to your dealer, they will replace or reset a fuel sensor in your car. im very sad to say that your car will never be the same again. these fuel sensors are very sensitive and they control everything in your car.
