Or, do people just buy these at the check stand and pop them on their car and feel they've really done something!

MK6 I do support the troops, somebody always misconstrues the question. By the way I'm from a military family!

Sorry MK and Teal I didn't mean anything by that and I'm very proud of our vets and so sorry the Agent Orange lingers on. I've lost 2 to it and many sick cousins. I wonder what the reprocussions will be from Iraq?

I have two magnetic stickers on my car. I have also flown the U.S. flag in front of my home 24/7 since Veterans' Day of 1985, when I began moving into the house. For the past 20 years, on every significant U.S. holiday, I have had unaccompanied servicemen from the nearby air base at my home as guests, including the Christmas and Hanukah periods. As a retired military officer I'm only troubled by the fact that many of those who are now part of the "Petey Patriot Platoon" would not have even given the time of day to a member of the armed forces on September 10, 2001. Many of those who moan over the loss of life in this war did not shed a tear when 9,555 active duty members of the armed forces died between 1980 and 1984 when no one was shooting at us. Those who moan about the loss of life in hopes of gaining some cheap and tawdry political points on the current administration conveniently forget the 7,500 active duty members who died in the eight years of the previous administration.
What really frosts me is the total lack of recognition given to the three military-oriented charities by all of those fund raisers after the attack on America of September 11, 2001. Even today, there is no mention of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Army Emergency Relief or the Air Force Aid Society in the media. We can all send cookies. No one ever thinks of sending a few bucks to one of those three charities that support our troops every day.

I support our troops with prayer and I have lost so many friends to this war which is really Bush's war and it is just another Viet Nam. I had a brother who did 2 tours in Nam and I had a brother-in-law that also served 2 tours in Nam. Both had contracted Agent Orange and had gotten sick from it and the army actually said yes that it was Agent Orange and sent a 28,000 dollar check as compensation for his illness and both my brother and brother-in law are now dead because of that war.
I can support them as there are nothing more than children sent to do a man's job. Some dead who are barely 18 and then the ones in the beginning stages of coming into their 20's and they are brainwashed by lies. More and more of the soldiers are admitting that they should not even be over there now. So, all in all I feel sorry for them. I support them but I do not support Bush and his lying reasons why they have to stay over there. It is there Civil War now and we cannot win that for them. So, bring our Troops home now and let the healing process for them begin now.

Here in Canada many people write letters to our troops either as a letter to the editor or through the military. My grandaughter wrote a letter a while back to any Canadian peacekeeper c/o Trenton Armed Forces Base and she received a lovely letter back from a pastor stationed in the middle east by the Sea of Gallilee . I think they appreciate the fact that they have not been forgotton. The bumper stickers and pins , in my opinion is more like showing respect to the families that have someone or lost someone in the military.

I would love to send a care package or card to a troop, but I just don't know how. I don't even have one of those bumper stickers that you are talking about, though. I think that support can come from a prayer, as well as actual physical gifts. So I do pray for them.

You do not have to send actual items or money to support the troops. I support them in everyway I can. When ever I see someone from the military I personally thank them for what they have done for me and there country. I also have a son who is in the military and I am a very proud mother .

God bless your service and sacrifice.
Yes, I have a friend in Iraq and write and send him goodies.
He'll be home I hope this month. Yeah!
Also, I found a great web-site:
www.anysoldier.com
You can "adopt" a service person and don't have to send money to a group of some kind.
I don't always have the money but I do have time and I can send what I can afford to.
Please everyone..........Support our troops anyway you can.
Even if it's just with prayer.

Is that what it means,
to send them things?
It would be gr8 to see what, and where
to send things on the card with the stickers.
We just get paperwork on where to PAY our Taxes. The TV says how much is needed in cost for War every so often. :-I
I thought it meant to speak proudly of our Men, and the job they were sent to do.
Unlike some of the views, and put down
treatment Men received during, and after the Vietnam War.

It's just a reminder to NOT repeat another Vietnam, - when our troops returned home and were pretty much heckled.
This concept of "support our troops" is a mental exercise that differentiates between whether your for or against the military exercise in Iraq, - don't hold the troops, that are simply doing their job, responsible for whether it's a "just" action or not.

Hi, I don't have flags and stickers and I have not sent anything but I do pray each day with a sincere heart that this war will stop and everyone fighting will come home safe. I pray for everyone because lots of innocent people are dying and we are all connected.

Am married to a retired vet and have a child that is active duty. I think support is shown stronger among the military. We've lived through this already.
