Everyone talks to themselves at some level. It's just that most people, especially Americans, do it in their heads rather than out loud due to society's norms. People talk to themselves to help them sort out their thoughts & feelings, to solve problems or even make decisions like what to eat for lunch. It can sometimes be a sign of loneliness that you're doing it out loud, rather than in your head, just to hear a human voice. The more important thing is not that you're doing it out loud but what you're saying to yourself. As long as you're in touch with reality, don't worry about it!

Yes you are going mad. The important thing to remember, and your going to want to say this out loud, is that you can be a happy crazy person or an unhappy crazy person. The best way to insure that is the repeat lines like the following. I am happy because I'm smiling and I'm smiling because I'm happy. If your going down the road of lunacy you may as well enjoy it. So from now on I want you to start saying happy and good things about yourself when your talking out loud to yourself. Tell your husband we all said HI.

yes I often find myself talking aloud. really, what we are doing is thinking out loud. my husband does the same thing and thinks i have gone crazy. but i guess as long as we don't answer our self it will be all right. Ha! And no, you are not going mad. they say people who talk out loud are very intelligent. that's what i think.

I think this is a sign that you have overloaded your brain and that you are overbooked and over busy..You need to slow down thats all. Don' t take on too much. Say no to projects/people to give you more time to relax and do "me" things..Good luck.

I find it amusing. Don't worry about, just relax and find comfort in the fact that you're bringing a smile to the face of everyone within earshot...

I talk out loud and I don't think I'm mad. And, if I am, I think it is just a little mad.

Not necesarily I think that someone said that if somebody talks to themselves while they're doing something, then they're smarter. I believe that was it, yes.
