Initially the alarm went off (but has stopped) However, the alarm box outside the house is still flashing and the attack light is showing on the keypad. I have tried to do a reset but nothing seems to work - have just moved into the house and previous owners left us no details of the alarm.

Check that the PA button was not activated, it may be configured for 'engineer reset', as normaly you would reset with the code that you have. Is it a monitored system??
