no, but i think its cute when the mom gives the masculine form of her name to her son and when the dad gives the feminine form of his name to his daughter

No, my name is Gail, so I guess the closest masculine form would be Galen, which I actually like, but never even thought about at the time. I have a cousin named Joanne who named one of her boys Joseph, after herself. It's a nice idea.
My son is named Anthony.
